Many people who are new to acupuncture often ask, "Do you bleed during acupuncture?" The simple answer is no, bleeding is not a common occurrence in acupuncture. The needles used in acupuncture are very thin, much smaller than the ones used for injections or blood tests. When an acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin, it does not normally cause bleeding. However, occasionally, a small spot of blood may appear when the needle is removed. This is absolutely normal and not something to be concerned about.

Acupuncture is a safe and virtually painless procedure when performed by a trained professional. At Quantum TCM Clinic in Thong Lor, Bangkok, Thailand, we use sterile, disposable needles to ensure the safety and health of our patients. Our experienced practitioners are skilled at inserting needles with minimum discomfort and without causing bleeding.

In rare cases, if a blood vessel is pricked during needle insertion, a small bruise may form. This is not harmful and will heal naturally over time. In fact, some practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine view this as a positive sign that the acupuncture is stimulating circulation to the area.

It's worth noting that the goal of acupuncture is not to cause physical discomfort or bleeding, but to restore balance to the body's energy, or Qi, which circulates through pathways known as meridians. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture works to restore balance and promote the body's natural healing abilities.
